The Burn is a delightful Scottish estate at the foot of Glenesk; near the village of Edzell and close to the eastern edge of the Cairngorms National Park. At the heart of the estate is an imposing and extensively modernised Georgian mansion house which routinely operates as an academic retreat for university groups and students from across the world. The Burn has only recently opened its doors to non-academic activities and has attracted a great deal of interest from couples seeking a unique and exclusive wedding venue.

Burn House was originally built between 1791 and 1796 to be the home of General Lord Adam Gordon. At the time, General Gordon was the most senior military officer in Scotland and Governor of Edinburgh Castle. The older parts of the house still reflect the grand Georgian design features of the late 18th Century and the landscaped grounds were much admired by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert during a visit in 1861. Burn House was upgraded, modernised and extensively remodeled during the 1930s and is now recognised by Historic Scotland for its architectural and historic importance.

Burn House is a wonderful venue for a wedding celebration and the perfect place for an exclusive and memorable event. The main mansion house has 43 beds in 18 guest bedrooms and there are a further 8 twin/double bedrooms available in 2 other estate house. The Burn's wedding licence allows marriage ceremonies to take place in both the house and the grounds where garden and woodland wedding ceremonies have grown in popularity. The Burn offers privacy, exclusivity and a real escape from the daily demands of the modern world. Time passes slowly at The Burn and The Burn staff make every effort to ensure that every minute is memorable.
