Ardanaiseig is a grade II listed manor house hotel, set on the banks of Loch Awe and overlooked by Ben Cruachan in the heart of the Highlands. Voted Country House Hotel of The Year in the 2015 Scottish Hotel Awards, Ardanaiseig is based in the village of Kilchrenan, a short drive from the pretty seaside town of Oban and the perfect base for exploring the Hebrides. The striking house was designed by renowned Scottish architect William Burn, most famous for designing two of Edinburgh’s most celebrated private schools; George Watson’s College and the Edinburgh Academy. Now consisting of 16 bedrooms, it is most frequently the breathtaking Boatshed – popular with honeymooners - on the banks of the Loch which draws guests to the hotel. The refurbished boat house consists of a floor to ceiling glass frontage which really makes the most of the views over one of Scotland’s largest and most beautiful freshwater lochs. Owner Bennie Gray also owns Grays and Alfies Antique Market in London and has been a forerunner of the London antiques scene since the 1960s, clear from the hotel’s eccentric antique furnishings. Not to be forgotten is Ardanaiseig’s award-winning restaurant, which is noted for its imaginative use of fresh produce, including salmon from Inverawe.
