Elgin Museum is the oldest independent museum in Scotland. It was built in 1843 in the Italianate style and is a listed building. It is a beautiful place for a most unusual wedding ceremony, with a sweeping T- shaped staircase to the upper level, giving a wonderful setting for photographs. The surrounding area is suitable as a backdrop for pictures, especially the Little Cross (a Medieval gathering place) which is opposite. Elgin Cathedral and the Cooper Park are a short distance away. The Main Gallery can seat up to 70, with space on the mezzanine level for a further 20 (approximately, depending on seating arrangements). We can supply seats and cream covers with green organza sashes. Although we do not have facilities for catering, there is space in the rear gallery and the side hall for a champagne buffet, for after the ceremony. Our volunteers are happy to help with arrangements, given enough time, and the final price would depend on your requirements. Elgin Museum is a perfect venue for couples wishing a small, unusual wedding which is cost effective.
