In September 2011 Penryn's Town Hall hosted its first ever wedding as mentioned in the Falmouth Packet. Penryn Town Hall is now an approved premises as a venue for marriages under the Marriage Act 1949 and as a venue for Civil Partnership, Act 2004. In addition, other civil ceremonies such as naming ceremonies and the renewal of civil marriage vows are also welcome in the Town Hall.
Penryn is one of Cornwall’s oldest towns, receiving its first charter in 1236. The beautiful granite Town Hall was originally known as the Market House and is situated in the centre of Penryn. It is thought that some of the stone from the historic ecclesiastical Glasney College was used in its construction. The clock tower was added in 1839. The main hall is available for weddings seating a maximum of 80 guests. It is a lovely bright space in the heart of town.
