Set in the leafy London borough of Greenwich, Eltham Palace is one of the most unique venues you will ever see. With its glamorous art deco styling, wonderful moated grounds and medieval grandeur, this childhood home of Henry VIII is now a sophisticated and fashionable venue for your wedding. Crossing over the moat on London's oldest working bridge, your guests will be greeted by the smell of roses in the sunken rose garden with the backdrop of Eltham Palace and the London skyline. For smaller ceremonies and receptions, the Art Deco house comprises of three rooms which provide beautiful and complementing settings for your special day.
The stunning circular wood-panelled Entrance Hall, exquisitely picked out in shades of coffee and cream, is where many couples choose to say ‘I do’ with 100 of their friends and family watching on. Brides can make a grand entrance down one of the curved staircases before the couple exchange vows beneath a glass dome. After the ceremony, French doors lead directly to the terrace beyond, where you can raise a glass to your future overlooking the flower gardens.
In burnt orange, ochre and blues, the Italian Drawing Room is the perfect location for your drinks and canapés reception. It boasts its own Grand piano that sets a wonderful atmosphere for your guests. This room can be used with the Entrance Hall and adjoining Dining Room for drinks receptions. Like the Entrance Hall, your guests are able to go out onto the terrace to mingle. The Dining Room alongside the Entrance Hall and Italian Drawing Room is the third room which completes the Art Deco house. Featuring unique doors with life drawings of animals and birds at London Zoo in the 1920s, this room has a large dining table and some of the archaeological treasures the Courtalds collected.
The Great Hall is the perfect place to say your vows in front of up to 200 people before hosting an evening of dinner and dancing within its walls. Separated from the main house only by a sliding lacquer screen, the contrast between Art Deco and Medieval is stunning. Live music and entertainment can be placed in the minstrel’s gallery overlooking the hall while you dance the night away on the dance floor. Opening directly onto the lawns and the 19 acres of glorious gardens, you can have extraordinary photos taken throughout the grounds to capture fabulous memories of you, your family and friends on your special day.
