Standing proudly on the Cornish headland, Pendennis Castle overlooks the Falmouth skyline. This impressive fortress built in the reign of King Henry VIII in the 1540s boasts a commanding position almost entirely surrounded by sea, and was used right up until 1956. Today the outstanding sea views provide a beautiful backdrop for your wedding. Your guests will certainly be impressed as they enter the grounds over the bridge through the castle’s large arched gate. Our gun crew can even fire two of our historic big guns to make your celebrations go with a bang.
Say your vows in the beautiful round Castle Keep. Soft lighting makes this a tranquil, romantic space, perfect for wedding ceremonies. The ancient granite walls can be dressed simply with a few candles to enhance the natural elegance of the room, or the neutral colour scheme means you can really go to town with brightly coloured flowers if you prefer. The acoustics of the Keep mean that live or recorded music always sound heavenly during your wedding here.
After your ceremony, you and your partner can lead your guests out into the Chemise. This grassy circle surrounds the Castle Keep and its ramparts protect you from sea breezes as you take in the views all around and raise a glass to your future.
Dinner takes place in the Killgrew Room in the Royal Artillery Barracks. Flooded by sunlight in the daytime and with dramatic views of the castle after dark, this warm and comfortable room is perfect for dining with 120 of your friends and family before dancing the night away.
For larger weddings and receptions, a marquee can be set up within the grounds, wowing your guests with the panoramic views around the castle.
